Dieting...

Has anyone ever tried counting calories of what they eat every day? It is so hard!!! I have no idea how many calories I eat each day unless I eat the same thing every darn day. Any advice...? It's just exhausting! Sorry, this is not necessarily a recipe, but it's kind of about food :)

This is long.... I started typing and couldn't stop!

Something I have done is to make a list of foods/meals that are roughly the same calories and rotate through them. I'd list about 4-5 for breakfast and lunch, and then have a light portion of dinner with extra veggies or fruit. That way you know the calories, but you're not just eating the same old thing.

Also, Ladies Home Journal online has a weight loss resource that I found to be helpful with some new recipes and ideas. They count all the meal calories already and make up a grocery list for you (if you like all the stuff they offer...)

I'm boring, so currently I stick to my oatmeal and boiled egg in the morning, soup or salad with a piece of homemade bread or a half sandwich for lunch (and maybe some almonds if I need extra protein), veggies or fruit and cheese for snack (and lately some crackers too), and then a serving of whatever I've made for dinner (with extra veggies or fruit). The dinner offers me enough variation, as well as the different soups or salads that I make. For an evening snack (now that I am preggo and can't make it after dinner without one) I usually have an apple with cheese (hello mom!) or some light popcorn or it is fudgesicle season again... This is about 1400-1500 calories. The only drink I have is water and an occasional glass of milk. I know you're a water junkie too, that always helps!

Good luck, you know you can count on me for advice or as a sounding board!
